In chaotic times we all can use more clarity, calm and then be able to communicate powerfully.
Communication is the key to a successful life and career. It is important to be able to communicate with others (both personally and professionally), in person and over the phone, with clarity, confidence, and power.
The first step in improving your communication skills is to get clear on what you want to say. The next step is to get calm before you speak because it will help you speak more clearly and powerfully. Finally, be sure that you are communicating your intentions clearly so that the other person understands what you are trying to say.
On this March 17, 2022 WSA-TV Premier Show episode our Premier Members share simple steps to powerfully engage in the world, uplevel our communication skills, and increase our impact
Featuring: Gloria Pierre, Anne Dunnett, Roe Couture DeSaro & Barbara Boldt
Our experts share their advice for women leaders and speakers:
Gloria shares “Pay attention to the thoughts you have consistently. Are they empowering or sabotaging? Pay attention to the company you keep. Are they empowering or sabotaging?”
Anne shares “Try to imagine how life would feel if you lived from a place of “being” instead of “doing”. A life where the chaos from the outer world goes into the stillness of your mind. Turning the ordinary into the extraordinary by looking at the simple things in life with a new awareness. Go on an inward journey to discover a part of yourself that you’ve lost or perhaps forgotten. Get outside, connect with nature and leave your phone at home! Focus on your senses, open your eyes and look at what is surrounding you, smell the air, touch a tree and listen to the sound of the wind that breezes through you. Find out how the senses can bring you back to the true nature of who you really are.”
Barbara suggests “One of the most important things people can do to improve their communication is to use specific vocabulary. Make sure people know what you are talking about. Record yourself speaking about a topic. When you listen to the recording, note each time you use a word like “it”, “that”, “them” “thing” “stuff”… What word could you have used that would have been specific and made your message clearer?”
